Stonechurch 2007 Merlot

We had this wine apres a ride in Short Hills provincial park. The wine is quite dark in color, mild on the nose. On the pallet the wine is reasonably fruit forward with red and black fruit flavors. Not what I would call varietal Merlot but reasonably good none the less. The wine has an almost jam like flavor. It’s still a little on the young side. On the finish the wine has a little bit of dryness and tannins typical of the terroir imparted by the Niagara area. They have done a good job on this one, keeping the tannins in check. I would give it an 88 or so. Not bad at all!
