This was the first red brought out from the Society for American Wines Phelp’s Creek tasting featuring the wines of Oregon and Portland. The wine is a blend of Syrah, Merlot and Cab Sauv. It is dark in color, with a pronoucned nose of syrah, slightly sweet. On the mid pallet this is a pretty big wine, medium to full bodied. Some nice cassis flavors, for me it almost resembled a cab franc in some ways. Some edgy tannins, but not in a bad or over the top way. The finish is medium in length with some residual sweetness left in the mouth and some tannins. This is a fairly smooth wine. I would give it an 89 or so. Not available in LCBO but $16.50 at the winery. For the price not a bad wine at all!
