Clos du Bois Merlot 2012

Dark in color with a mild nose of plum and black berries. On the mid palate the wine displays black cherries to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice tannins and some acidity. This is not a great Merlot but none the less a nice wine. More reminiscent of a cab to my tastes. I would give it an 88 or so.

Smoky, chocolaty Merlot overflowing with dark cherry and fig, along with a festive suggestion of Christmas cake. It’s generous on the palate with a velvety mouthfeel, and a sprinkling of cocoa on the finish. (VINTAGES panel, Nov. 2014) $16.95
