Ballast Stone Windjammer Shiraz 2012

Dark in color with a lovely fruit forward nose of blueberries. On the mid palate the wine matches the nose with blueberries being dominant. Not sweet at all. On the medium length finish the wine displays some firm acidity and some nice tannins along with some gentle peppery notes. There is some noticeable heat from the high alcohol. The wine might be a little young. I would give it an 88-89. Very nice.

Ballast Stone Windjammer Shiraz 2012 — VINTAGES#: 167064
STYLE – Full-bodied & Smooth
Australia’s 2012 vintage has elicited much excitement, with many, such as wine critic James Halliday, suggesting that it stands as the best vintage in 20 years. This example offers ripe cherry, blackberry, cassis and meaty notes on the nose. Elegantly styled with good flavour intensity and vibrancy. Generous rich fruit framed by structured tannins. A great barbecue wine from a great vintage. (VINTAGES panel, Sept. 2014) $21.95
