2014 Peacock Sky Merlot/Malbec (mini review)

Inky dark in color with a nice blackberry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays traditional Malbec notes with blackberry dominating. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice tannins, and some slight pepper and spice. A nice wine, I’d give it an 88 or so. Not in the LCBO but available for $47+HST a bottle from Apparition Wines.

From the winery’s web site (for a different year):
Our 2013 Merlot Malbec was awarded 4 stars (Silver Medal standard) by Winestate magazine, who had this to say:

“Dark, rich blend of merlot (84%) and Malbec (16%). Weighty and firmly structured, with concentrated blackcurrant and plum flavours, hints of dried herbs and spices, and obvious cellaring potential.”

A classic blend from our estate grown fruit. Nicely perfumed, with solid palate weight supported by well balanced oak. A satisfying wine with intense colour, and a pleasant, long finish. Alcohol by volume 14.1%
