Vinho Verde as it turns out, it not a grape, but more of a style, and the grapes used can vary … This one is pale in color with a mild grassy nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice grassy notes to match the nose along with some nice lime … On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice lively acidity that dance on the tongue and linger leaving some nice citrus/lime notes, nice and dry. This is a wine that could easily hold it’s own with spicy food, but we paired it with pan fried haddock and it went perfectly. For take two, we paired it with BBQ sauce pork ribs, and it held it’s own perfectly. This particular Vinho Verde is made from a blend of Loureiro and Alvarinho grapes, no idea the blend. It’s made in a drink now style, similar in some ways to a sauv blanc. This particular Vinho Verde does not have any effervescence to it, some do. I would give this a solid -88 which for the price is a bargain! It’s a general list product at the LCBO. Check stock
