Maison Valdesday Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2018

Dark garnet in color with a dark berry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays black berries as being mostly dominant, quite fruit forward. On the lighter side of medium in length the wine displays some soft dusty tannins and food friendly light acidity. There are some noticable rustic and earthy notes, along with some nice dryness, that build in the mouth. This isn’t a horrible pinot noir, but is by no means a varietal or outstanding one either. Impressive ripe fruit, with a savoury herbal tone that adds considerable depth and complexity. A pure mineral note emerges on the finish. This is fresh, vibrant and made for food. Pair it with roast lamb. (Vintages panel, April 2019)
