Licenciado Reserva 2015

Dark in color with a nice black cherry nose. On the mid palate the wine matches the nose with big black cherries along with some rich mocha, and coffee notes. On the medium length finish the wine displays some nice bold tannins and acidity, nice and dry. This is a big wine, not to the point of a palate bruiser, but be careful what you serve it with, or the wine is all your tasting! We paired it with rack of venison, and honestly it was a bit too big for that, I should have expected that, it’s 100% tempranillo. I would give it an 88+ which for the price is a good deal. In spite of being a 2015 I would say it will keep a bit longer, but at the risk of loosing it’s character. The LCBO say full bodied and firm, um, oh ya! From the LCBO web site, check stock:

Aromas of blueberries, violets and perfumes. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. A little hard, but fresh and clean. Drink now or hold. Score – 91. (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 26, 2019)
