For a while now the formerly Vin de Pay’s has been replaced by Indication Géographique Protégée (IGP) which is the quality level one below the well known AOC. This particular wine is labeled both ways and in uncharacteristic form also identifies clearly the varietal, Pinot Noir. Garnet in color with a bright red cherry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice lively fruit forward notes, red cherries to match the nose. On the medium length finish the wine delivers some nice lively tannins and acidity. I have to say, for the price, this is a surprisingly good, albeit fruit forward wine. It’s half way in between a serious pinot with bite and fruit forward wine.
