Dark in color with a nice black berry nose. On the mid palate the wine displays some nice soft black fruits, blueberries and the like. On the medium length finish, especially straight out of the bottle, there are some strong peppery notes along with some smoother tannins and acidity. This is more of an elegant syrah vs an edgy shiraz, not in the least bit jammy or sweet, nice and dry. Quite food friendly. I would give it an -88, which for the price is a good deal.
